Athlete Agent Responsibilities - Athlete Agents

The agent's name and address must appear on all forms of advertising.

Agents may not communicate with or enter into an agent contract or financial services contract with an athlete prior to the athlete's final intercollegiate or high school regular season or post season game.

Agents may send written materials to an athlete regarding the agent's professional credentials, the specific marketing services the agent offers, and financial services provided to the athlete by the agent.

Agents may be contacted and/or interviewed by the athlete, the athlete's parents or legal guardian.

Agents may not enter into an agent contract or financial services agreement with an athlete prior to the athlete's final intercollegiate or high school regular season or post season game that purports to take effect after that contest is completed.

Agreements between the athlete and the agent must be filed with the Athlete Agent Licensing Program and the athletic director of the athlete’s college, university, or high school. The agreement must stipulate:

  1. The schedule of fees the agent is charging to and has collected from the athlete; and
  2. A description of the professional services the athlete will receive from the agent for each fee.
