The Adult High School Pilot establishes an alternative method for adults, who did not graduate from high school, to earn a high school diploma and potentially earn post​ ​secondary credit or an industry-recognized certification in an environment that meet​s​ ​the needs of the adult​ learner. The pilot program, established by House Bill 1381, is effective July 1, 2017. A maximum of six pilot programs may be approved to establish an adult high school.

The Adult High School Pilot is under the authority of the Maryland State Department of Education and the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.

Eligible Applicants
Private non-profit organizations interested in applying to become a pilot operator will need to submit a detailed proposal, including a three-year budget. Refer to the Solicitation for Proposals for the complete description of eligibility.

Public funding is not provided for the pilot.
